Thank you Ken Kormendy kkormendy1@comcast.net t is my sad duty to inform you that a Life Member of our Lodge has passed and that we will have a Lodge of Sorrow in his honor at the Thursday, February 17, 2022, Lodge Meeting.
Howard Richard ‘Dick” Millard, 92, of Wheeling passed away on Monday, February 15, 2022 peacefully in his sleep. Dick was born on June 16, 1929, to the late James and Marie Millard. He is survived by his sons Jay (Marsha) Millard of Cincinnati, OH and Michael Cass (Kimberley) McMillan of Huntington, WV as well as his grandchildren: Dominic Millard, Meghan Millard, Michael Cass McMillian II, Joshua McMillian, and Braxton Michels along with his great grandchildren: Tucker McMillian, Tanner McMillian, Landon Michels, and Kinsleigh Michels. Along with his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister Eleanor Bock. Dick was a 1st Lieutenant serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. After returning from the war, he joined the Wheeling Police Department and served the citizens of Wheeling for 28 years before retiring as a Lieutenant. Along with serving his country and community, Dick was a longtime OVAC football official and an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (Life Member) Lodge No. 28, Masonic Lodge, Osiris Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters and the Fraternal Order of Police. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in his name to the Jay and Marsha Millard Foundation, Inc. for the benefit of Twin Rails Sober Living Facility Covington, KY. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Rd., Wheeling, WV, 26003 (304-232-2732). The Southern DD Clinic will be held on March 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., at the Lewisburg Elks Lodge #1758, Lewisburg WV 24901, Call 304 661-0745 for more information.
Please note that the Central DD Clinic originally scheduled for Saturday, March 12 is now MOVED to
Saturday, March 5, at 10:00 AM at Buckhannon Lodge 1736. The change is necessary to accommodate our State President so that he may attend another Elks commitment on the March 12 and also attend my clinic. Again, the Clinic is now on Saturday, March 5, at 10:00 AM at Buckhannon Lodge 1736. (Bluefield, Charleston, Hinton, Huntington, Lewisburg, Princeton, ) The Southern District Hoop Shoot is set for January 8, 2022 at Our Lady of Fatima School in Huntington, WV. Registration will open at 9:30 a.m., the Opening Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. The contested begins immedaitley following. Letter w/details. WV Elks Northern District Local Hoop Shoot (Weirton, Wellsburg, Wheeling, Sistersville, St. Marys, Parkersburg) The Northern District Hoop Shoot is set for January 22, 2022 at St. Marys High School in St. Marys, WV. The shoot will begin promptly at 10 a.m., with registration and warmups starting at 9 a.m. Letter w/details. The Elkins Lodge #1135 Hoop Shoot will be held on Saturday, January 29 at the Elkins High School, starting at 9:00 a.m.
The Regional Shoot will be January 29, 2022 at Elkins Middle School. Starting time will be 9:00am The Wheeling Lodge #28 has released their December 2021 issue of Cervus Alces.
It is my sad duty to inform you of the passing of our member, Past State President Paul Duffy Sr. on Friday, October 8, 2021. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 12, from 1PM -7 PM, where We will be having Elks Funeral Service at 6PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.

![]() The Wheeling Lodge #28 has lost a long time Member of our Wheeling Lady Elks. It is my sad duty to announce that Thelma Mae “Happy” Scott, 102, passed away at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Saturday, July 24, 2021. Thelma was born in Wetzel County, WV, on March 22, 1919, . She was the daughter of the late John Roberts and Laura Carney Roberts Cathers. "Happy" was a member of the Carnation Twig of OVMC, past president of the Civic League of Warwood, and a member of the Auxiliary of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. She loved to travel and was a Methodist by faith. In addition to her parents, "Happy" was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Scott (DEC. November 3, 1999); daughter, Beverly Scott Speidel; two sons-in-law, David L. Johnson and James G. Speidel. Surviving is her daughter, Betty Johnson (Wheeling, WV); two granddaughters, Lisa (Ken) Vannoy (St. Clairsville, OH), and Penny Johnson (Wheeling, WV); two great grandchildren, Bethany (Joel) Reed and Seth (Brittanie) Vannoy; nephew, William Hostutler; and several great nieces and great nephews. Friends will be received at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV, Sunday, August 1, 2021, from 5-7 pm and again Monday, August 2, 2021, 10 am until time of service at 11 am, with Rev. Jake Steele officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1232 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003. It is my sad duty to inform you of the passing of our Member William "Bill" Langmyer. September 7, 1934 - July 9, 2021 William A. “Bill” Langmyer, age 86 of Triadelphia, WV passed away on July 9, 2021. He was born on September 7, 1934 in Wellsburg, WV to the late Joseph and Kathleen Langmyer. In addition to his parents, Bill is also preceded in death by his niece, nephew, and brother-in-law. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Langmyer; sister Martha Rodak; nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, July 12, 2021, 11:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 2244 Marshall Ave., Wheeling, WV. 26003. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
