 Public service is an integral part of being an Elk. In keeping with this tradition, Elks create and participate in many programs to better their communities and demonstrate that​ Elks Care. Elks Share.

State Major Project

Empowering Young People One Camper at a Time

Americanism Essay Contest

A program of the Elks’ Grand Lodge Fraternal Committee, this contest is for students in 5th through 8th grades to promote patriotism among young people. Students are asked to write an essay based on a question or theme provided by the Lodge. Essay length is not to exceed 300 words. Deadline for submission to your District Chair is December 18. American flags are presented to participating classrooms.

Soccer Shoot

Prepare for local, district, Soccer Shoot Competitions in September. The State Soccer Shoot will be held in early November at the Elite Center in Parkersburg. Work with local Physical Education teachers at elementary and middle schools to promote events and increase participation.

Most Valuable Student Scholarships are available for any graduating senior and are due to the Lodges in December. Legacy Award Scholarships for children and grandchildren of Elks members are due on-line in February.

Hoop Shoot

A basketball free throw program for youth ages 8-13. Preparations for local, district, and state Hoop Shoot events begin in October. Work with local Physical Education teachers at elementary and middle schools to promote events and increase participation.
The Hoop Shoot is free to all participants.
