George Vieweg Thieroff, Sr., 87, of Wheeling, passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2022. Born in Wheeling, he was the only son of the late, George Edward Thieroff and Adelaide Vieweg Thieroff. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, David Andrew Thieroff in 1983; sisters Andria Thieroff, Ruth Foose (Harry), Adelaide Luchetti, Sally Holmes (Tiny) and brother-in-law, Robert Mendenhall. George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Darlene Klein Thieroff; son George V. Thieroff, Jr. (Lesa) of Wheeling; daughter, Karen Thieroff Sproul (Joseph) of Waverly, PA; grandchildren, George V. Thieroff, III, MD (fiance' Stefanie), David A. Thieroff, D.D.S., Joseph H. Sproul, IV (Jess), Sara Sproul deBlasi (Gerard), Rebecca Sproul Kertsmar (Joseph), 7 great-grandchildren, a sister, Sue Mendenhall, a brother-in-law, Robert Luchetti, Sr. and numerous loved nieces and nephews. George graduated from Linsly, Class of 1957. He was part owner and President of Tower Lines Trucking in Warwood from 1957 – 1985. Afterwards, owner of Carson Petroleum Co. and McDonald Ford. He was a real estate and licensed insurance broker for Fort Henry Realty, and owner of Muzak and Advanced Communications until he retired and sold it to his son. George was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where he served on Vestry and Laurencefield Chapel, where he was treasurer. He was a life member of Wheeling Elks Club #28 and a past member of the Wheeling Country Club. George wanted to thank all of the good people he worked with as he felt any success he had was because of them. As per his request, there will be no visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
